Cashback websites are a great way to save money on the things you buy. They are popular with people who want to save money from their online purchases. But only if they know which sites to use and how to get the most out of them. When you shop through these sites, you get a percentage of your purchase price back in the form of cash.
The two free cashback websites are Quidco and Top Cashback. You will notice that cashback offers are low, sometimes 2%, sometimes 3% depending on the retailer, but I like to go by Tesco’s motto “Every Little helps” because it does. Are you on a low income and need a little bit of extra money? Then this is the way to get it. Even if you are not on a low income, receiving a little extra for your shopping if you do a lot of it helps.
How do they work?
When purchasing items online, you will need to first log into these cashback websites, search for the stores in the search engine, then click on the link to get taken to that particular store’s website. If you don’t do this, then you will be missing out. Be aware that cashback websites can take a while before it gets credited to your account. For example, I recently took out car insurance through Quidco to get their cash back, which was to receive £28.00, and I have to wait for six months to get this. But I feel it will be worth it.
Check out Save Money on your Christmas shop to see a list of popular stores participating in this cashback scheme.
If you have found another higher cashback offer on another site, pop Quidco a message, and they will look at matching it depending on whether it all fits in with their terms and conditions.
Additional websites and apps to take into consideration
You may want to look into Cashback savings. You can sign up for a free trial at this cashback site, where you will have access to the cashback offers for 30 days. I think it is worth trying out. But if you do decide it is not right for you, remember to cancel your subscription after your 30 day trial period. What you can do is make a note of when the trial period ends in your diary.
If you ever purchased from Argos online, you may have seen a message appear at the end of your transaction saying you can receive a certain amount from Cashback savings if you sign up. That is what I did, and it was the first time I heard about this site.
I took advantage of the free trial and earned £30.00 because I did not need to purchase a substantial amount of items online. You can receive more.
After your trial period ends, there is a £15.00 monthly charge. If you purchase a substantial amount of items online, consider whether it will be worth it for you. The cashback offers on cashback savings do, by far, outweigh Topcashback and Quidco, where they offer 10% cashback.
You have to be aware that when signing up to these cashback websites, you may not receive cashback if the retailer is also offering a promotion, such as to get 10% or 15% off your order. Read the terms and conditions.
If you have a nectar card, don’t forget that you can also get offers. You might find that this is a better option for you. Remember, before making a purchase go to your nectar app too and search for the retailer you will be shopping from. For example, if you are a regular Asos shopper you can collect 2 points per £1.00 you spend. https://lifestylesavingtechniques.co.uk/store-card-to-take-advantage-nectar-card/
What to take into consideration
How often you purchase items online
What retail stores will you be buying products from mainly?
Do you receive cash back from other apps? Maybe this can cover the cost of this membership?
Also, consider that you may not like the items you receive and will return them, so is it worth paying £15.00 monthly but then again, there may be times when you will keep all the items you purchase. If you spend a lot within a month, you may be able to cover the cost of 2 months worth of your paid membership. You could also try it for one year and see how you get on.
Take your time to consider all of your options.
